The patented SuperCraneTower™ is a stair tower designed to provide a safer and more comfortable stair access solution to your crane drivers and other users. The SuperCraneTower™ stands adjacent to a tower crane and there is an option to have an Amenity Facility or Box at the top of the SuperCraneTower™.
After extensive and careful research into the world of crane drivers and understanding the risks crane drivers face daily and the liability placed upon builders, Preston and its R&D team have come together to develop a far more safer access solution for a crane driver, to overcome the existing and dangerous challenges that a crane driver faces using the current method of crane access.
You might be wondering what makes this stair tower far safer than the current ladders on crane towers. Well, there are many notable features of the SuperCraneTower™ which makes it a safe practice and reduces risks greatly, one of many and most important feature is that it provides a comfortable and safer stair tower which allows a crane driver and other users to walk the stairs naturally, safely and more comfortably as opposed to the current method of climbing dangerous and unsafe ladders. Preston is greatly concerned with the current challenges faced by crane drivers, dogmen, mechanics, riggers, rescue teams, repairers, medic teams and so on, and therefore has developed a comfortable and convenient stair tower for a safe, natural and comfortable walk up and down stairs which protects crane drivers and other users and provides more safety for workers who are carrying tools than the current crane climbing method.
The current method for a crane driver’s access to a crane is to climb a dangerous and unsafe ladder which places the crane driver and builder at a huge safety risk, thus being in breach of Work Health and Safety by failing to reduce risk and in breach of Duty of Care. Climbing Vs Walking – it is obvious which one is a safer practice. This is where Preston comes in.
Preston understands what crane drivers want and need and brings a far more safe and superior method by giving the crane driver the comfort of a “home” with optional access to an Amenity Facility next to the crane cabin containing a toilet, ablution, vanity, air-con, table, chair, fridge, locker, resting lounge, exercise gym, first aid and so on.
Preston believes that safety should always exceed the minimum standard and therefore Preston always exceeds safety standards by designing products which sets safer standards as opposed to just meeting the standards. Our research into the life of crane drivers gave us a reality hit, crane drivers need to calculate how much water to drink so as to not frequent a toilet often, crane drivers have a higher risk of bowel deficiencies, just to name a few of these disturbing realities. Therefore, the SuperCraneTower™ is a fully welded, hot dipped galvanised rigid Stair Box with no loose parts. Measurements at 4480mmL x 1680mmW x 2160mmH and weighing 670kg. The stairs are 840mm wide with a landing width of 840mm wide. The box contains four lifting lugs with a 30⁰ slope for easy alignment of the Stair Box on top. The stair angle is at a 35⁰ gentle slope for a natural, easy and comfortable access.
Stair threads are manufactured from expanded metal creating a non-slip surface with superior non-slip edge grip. All landings are fitted with superior non-slip expanded metal and all landings have double handrails with 150mm kickboard all around which further reduces risk and increases safety greatly.
The estimated installation time of a SuperCraneTower™ in normal conditions is 15 minutes per stair box by a crane or other lifting means and ready to use. The Stair Boxes are all pre-assembled and ready to use reducing time and cost on site by delivering the pre-assembled boxes and lifting them into position.
